✗ Vote Green Party - May 6th

I am 44 years old and a teacher in a local secondary school. I am a mum of two boys.

I’ve lived in Chesterton for 16 years and fell in love with Apedale Country Park as soon as I moved here. I think this is where my interest for the environment stems from. Having somewhere to go that is local and green is so important for our wellbeing. We’ve all benefited from this more so over the past year.

My interest in the Green Party began in 2010. I read their manifesto and it really resonated with me. Everything they were saying made sense. I think a lot of us had become disillusioned with politics and what the main parties were offering at the time. People wanted change and something different as the issues people were facing were not being resolved. Many people did not vote at this time.

Over the last 10 years, we’ve experienced the erosion of workers rights, zero hours contracts, the culture of material wealth being the ultimate pursuit to the sacrifice of our mental health and wellbeing.

Locally we’ve seen the impact that big business is having on our own area. Newcastle town centre was closing down before the pandemic began. Businesses struggling to stay open due to high rates. Who benefits from this? It certainly isn’t the people.

Then there are the issues we’re all going through with the landfill. Why is it deemed acceptable for people to be breathing in fumes caused by a landfill that has been created next to a residential area? Do the people of Newcastle under Lyme not matter? The impact that this is having on people’s mental health and wellbeing has been catastrophic and no one seems to hear us.

What is being done for students who have missed out on exams and huge chunks of their time in education? The way that the government handled the whole exams fiasco will have a knock on effect for years to come. Young people’s mental health is at crisis point and we’re seeing a reduction in services.

I for one want to see real change.

The Green Party are the only party who seem to be taking these things seriously. As a Green Party Candidate, I will listen to what the people of Audley and Chesterton have to say and make sure their voices are heard. We’ve had enough now of the social injustices that are headlines today and tomorrow’s chip paper the next! Nothing is getting done. It’s time for us, the people, to be the change we want to see.

Vote Green!

✗ Vote Green Party - May 6th

Whichever direction we look in our society, towards the community, the media, industry or the political system itself, neglect, abuse and exploitation are prevalent. But we can, and must, change this. We have shown time and time again, that only the people carry the power to make the great change that is needed.

For many of us, fear and instability have encroached our daily lives and businesses. Prejudice, greed and self-entitlement have cheated their way to the top of many of the institutions that we each rely on in one way or another. Fake news and misinformation are utilised as the pillars by which our societal and personal progression are halted and held to ransom.

The North Staffordshire Green Party along with many of yourselves, know full well that there is a much better path forward; a path that includes and benefits every single member of our society. For far too long we have focused our time and energy on patching up a system that fails us more with every day that passes. Let us instead look to building a better future, fortified by the knowledge that the past has gave us.

As a team, the NSGP, work hard every day to bring you the facts, expert advice and support that is needed when tackling the issues that affect us all on a day to day basis.

Whether it be clean air for the thousands of people affected by Newcastle Tip, the protection of our declining green spaces such as Keele Golf Course and Bradwell Crematorium, supporting our NHS and social care system, battling for equality and inclusivity, the fight for free school meals for vulnerable children and many other valuable and important causes, we are here to listen, learn and assist when our community, it's environment and beyond, are at threat or simply need some support.

As your Councillor I will continue my team and party precedent of supporting the vulnerable, struggling and overlooked with every power that is available to me. I will be honest and will not attempt to buy your favour with false promises, lies or half-truths.

I was born, and for the vast majority of my life, have lived in Newcastle-under-Lyme. Many of my family live Porthill and I have fond and colourful memories with the area and many of its people. As many of those who've met me will already know, If I can ever help a situation or problem, I always will; this will always be my aim as your councillor.

It's time for action and answers, science and solutions, but most of all, transparency and trust.

Vote Green for a (better) future!

✗ Vote Green Party - May 6th

To put it simply, and it may sound ‘cliché’ or like ‘just another candidate statement’ but I’m a normal person.

A human with a normal life wanting to make a difference and to make a better life and future for my family.

I’ve made this step to give our area a Green voice. The issue surrounding Walley’s quarry landfill is the big one at present, we all know this. But there’s no political motivation or gain for me - it directly affects my family and myself on a daily basis. Not just because it stinks, but it is affecting our health and enduring this whilst pregnant has only provided the extra oomph to get involved as something needs to be done. The more united voices behind the cause, the louder we will be!

We also need to protect our green spaces - remember when we were kids and we could just go and play? Those were the days!

We need to nurture our NHS and ensure the support services available to our people are not just relevant but fit for purpose too; especially the mental health services.

We need better transport links, more opportunities, to remember the market town that we were ... I could go on for days as there are so many things that we need, but all I can say is given a chance at making these things happen, I’d do my absolute best.

✗ Vote Green Party - May 6th

The past year has been one of the most difficult in living memory, many people have had to deal with the loss of loved ones or insecurity around their employment. This has created unprecedented levels of stress and pushed public services and the NHS near to breaking point.

As we begin, hopefully, to emerge from lockdown we know that cannot and do not want to return to the old normal. A better, fairer, and more sustainable way of living is possible and will be to the benefit of everybody.

We need to invest in improving our public services, protect our green spaces from unnecessary development and to ensure all members of our community are treated with the respect they deserve.

Only the Green Party is genuinely committed to doing these things and has a positive, inclusive vision for our shared future. After all that has been sacrificed by so many people Staffordshire deserves a better and fairer settlement, I am proud to be standing to be for a party that offers just that.

✗ Vote Green Party - May 6th

I am George Jones. I am 22 years old, and I am soon to become a dad. Being young I know from experience the struggles young people have today. Society has expectations of young adults – education, emphasis is put on exams, installing a ‘you need to work hard’ attitude to succeed in life, losing the most valuable lesson of all, how to live and to be happy.

Young adults that fail in education are segregated from their peers; ‘offloaded’ to other places of education. I left education and became a chef. Working a zero-hour contract, expectations from my employer were the same as education – ‘work hard to succeed’ – taking away the most valuable thing, family time.

Those that do not meet expectations, or their employer decides they do not require them anymore they are segregated from people who are perceived to be ‘hard workers’ – the ones lucky enough to have a contract. Those that do not meet work expectations are then forced onto a pitiful benefit system.

This way of life hit me the hardest when I was diagnosed with a chronic illness and sadly current pharmaceuticals do not ease my pain or symptoms. Medical use of Cannabis was legalised in the UK in November 2018, however it still isn’t easily accessible. Sick patients, worried parents and supportive partners have had to resort to dangerous levels in obtaining Cannabis. Woefully driving profit into the black market when it should be readily available on the NHS, correctly taxed, managed and appropriately delivered, like any drug or goods.

Sadly, Newcastle and Stoke has a bad reputation for drug use, the situation is clearly out of hand and is increasing with poor mental health and poor living conditions. I want to see the legalisation of drugs, to start treating addiction as an illness and solve issues that cause addiction, instead of unnecessary arrest and use of our overloaded legal system. We could all benefit from a new system as the war on drugs is getting us nowhere and is causing more harm than good to our local communities.

I stand for the young adults who’ve had immense challenges to overcome at an early age, those who have suffered from societies’ severe expectations, those who’ve fallen through the care systems, those who have been left with undiagnosed illnesses and untreated learning disabilities. As your councillor, I will work for the people who need this urgent care and support, bringing a segregated society back together.

✗ Vote Green Party - May 6th

As somebody who has worked and spent the majority of my adult life in and around Newcastle, I want nothing more than to improve both the place, and the lives of everybody in this community.

My priority is the physical health and mental wellbeing of every single person, as well as the protection of the environment in which we all live.

I feel that the pandemic has truly highlighted where we need to focus our priorities as a society; mental health services, supporting local businesses, and a cleaner, greener future.

I as well as many others, regularly walk my dogs in Lyme Valley, which is a beautiful and well preserved space. As much as I appreciate Lyme Valley, I would like that beauty to extend into the town centre. It is clear that local businesses have been hit hard over the last 12 months. By working together as a community, supporting local businesses, and working towards solutions for the prolonged quarry issue, we can encourage Newcastle to thrive again.

The North Staffordshire Green Party is dedicated to these causes, and is proud to work with facts and experts in other to solves issues and improve this community as a whole. We work hard all year round, bringing much-needed information to those who are deeply affected by our current leader’s decisions and inaction.

It is time for change and a practical, sustainable future.

That change starts with you.

✗ Vote Green Party - May 6th

I am standing for the Green Party because I believe they are the best hope for our future.

We all live together. It doesn’t matter where you are from, what language you speak or what colour you are.

We all live together.

We are consuming this planets’ resources at a rate never before seen, as well as causing more damage to this planet than any other species before us.

To save ourselves we must change ourselves, or children born today might not become adults in the same world as we did.

Unfortunately, we act like we have all of time in the world to play with. Our children might look back at our ignorance and weep.

Vote Green Party, vote for hope through change.

✗ Vote Green Party - May 6th

A Green vote is not a wasted vote, its future proof vote.

For too long have we ignored the crisis and now it’s on our doorsteps and in our homes.

From Newcastle’s stinky tip, to the threat of loss to our local green spaces like Keele Golf Course, the increase of regular flooding, unwarranted removal of trees, poorly built and maintained houses, the expected troubles HS2 will bring to our rural villages and never forgetting our underappreciated, underfunded NHS and care services.

It is clear that our time and patience is being wasted.

Our anger towards the environmental and social injustices are genuine and every day we fear how inaction is harming our communities.

The North Staffs Green Party is proud to work with the facts and the experts.

We work hard all year round, bringing the much-needed information to those who have been deliberately cut-out and deeply affected by our leader’s decisions.

It’s time for practical action and a stable future.
