The UK is at risk of failing to meet its targets in relation to reducing the emission of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere and addressing the wider environmental problems causing climate change.
Moving towards a renewable and locally generated energy system is key to turning this situation around. At present local energy suppliers are being forced out of the market by disproportionate costs.
The Local Electricity Bill aims to solve this problem by establishing a new and fairer system where costs are proportionate, meaning local electricity suppliers are not priced out.
This will be better for the environment and will help to bring skilled jobs into the local economy.
We the undersigned call on Stoke-on-Trent City Council to formally support the Local Electricity Bill and to communicate this to its parliamentary sponsor Robert Halfon MP.
